Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last in April 2020. The actor, who was undergoing treatment for cancer, left his family and close friends broken-hearted after his sudden demise. Now, during a media interaction the veteran’s son, actor Ranbir Kapoor has opened up about his loss and how it has impacted his life.

While promoting his upcoming movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor in lead role, the actor spoke about the highs and lows of his life. Ranbir also shed light on the memories he has of his father and how it impacted his life. Speaking to the news agency PTI, the actor stressed on the fact that nothing prepares a person to lose their parents. Quoted by Indian Express, he said, “The biggest thing that happens in an individual’s life is when you lose one of your parents. That really is something… Especially when you’re nearing your 40s, that’s the time when something like this usually happens… Nothing prepares you for that, but it brings the family closer. He went on to recall that 2022, was one of the best years of his life, as not only did he tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend, actress Alia Bhatt but they also welcomed their daughter Raha Kapoor in November. He went on to recall that he was shooting for Shamshera and Brahmastra when his father was undergoing chemotherapy.


The 40-year-old actor said, “When my father was suffering from cancer and was going through his treatment, I was working on Brahmastra and Shamshera at that time. When I see Brahmastra now, there are amazing memories, but there are certain scenes I see and I get reminded of moments… like ‘Oh! At this time, he was having chemotherapy or he was on a ventilator…’”

On the work front, the actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. The Luv Ranjan directorial marks Ranbir’s return to the rom-com genre. He also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal in his pipeline. The movie stars Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.
